Since we are already halfway through January, I am going to make the executive decision that we all start by reading the introductory paragraphs of “The Second Sex” by Simone de Beauvoire (available in French or English) and “The Feminine Mystique” by Betty Friedan. These are the indisputable bastions of feminist literature, so if you haven’t already read them, now is your chance! For those of us who are already familiar with these texts, it won’t hurt to revisit them for a refresher.
Next month is February, African American History Month here in the US. I think it would be a good idea to read a book by one of the many amazing black women writers of our time. Below are my suggestions to select from, but feel free to also put down your own requests if you have an idea.
